On The Ice
Midwest Ice Center provides the highest quality instruction to athletes of all ages and abilities. We offer public skate sessions, drop-in hockey, and private parties.
Midwest Youth Hockey Association was formed in the fall of 2006 with the intention of providing children from Northwest Indiana the opportunity to learn, compete, and enjoy the game of ice hockey. The Blackbirds were founded on the principles of a strong commitment to skill development, promotion of sportsmanship and fair play, and an unmatched work ethic. When you join MYHA you are putting your child in a position to learn more than just the game of hockey. Dedication, discipline, and a strong desire to compete will be instilled in each of our aspiring athletes through a regimented curriculum focused on optimizing the performance of the individual, and above all, our teams.
Development Program is the bridge program between hockey learn to skate and the Midwest Blackbirds youth hockey teams. Cross Ice Hockey is a 2 day a week program and is based on the USA Hockey Development Model of practicing and playing games across the width of the ice rather than full ice. By reducing the playing area, the cross ice model allows players to increase the number of times they touch the puck, increase puck possession times, and increase speed in playing situations, all of which translates into faster development of the individual skills necessary to keep our young players excited and motivated.

Adult Hockey Leagues
MTIC offers adult hockey leagues for both recreational and competitive players ages 18 and older. The 30 and Over “Draft League” consists of teams drafted as evenly as possible with most games played on Saturday nights and Sunday mornings. The “B” and “C” leagues allow for both team and
individual entry, with the “B” league being the most competitive. “B” and “C” league games are typically played on Sunday evenings and weeknights. All players must be registered with USA Hockey prior to playing in any league at Midwest.
