Private Lessons

Who Can Take Private Lessons?
Any skater of any age or ability level can take private lessons at any time. It is not necessary to complete any certain level in the Learn to Skate program before starting private lessons. Figure skaters and hockey players must be enrolled continously in clinics and classes at Midwest Ice Center in order to participate in private lessons.

Why Are Private Lessons Beneficial?
Private lessons offer skaters/players individualized instruction with a coach which provides more personal attention for skill acquisition. Skaters who want to progress more quickly through the figure skating levels and who want to test and compete through ISI or U.S. Figure Skating should take private lessons. Hockey players who need to focus on their power skating skills, agility, or speed should also consider private lessons.

How Do You Choose A Coach?
Please pick up a flyer at the front desk for bios on our coaches. If you know who you would like to work with, you may contact them directly to schedule lessons. If you are unsure, please contact the Figure Skating (Dina Frigo) or Hockey Director (Jim Stussy) to help you schedule lessons.

When Can You Take Private Lessons?
Figure skaters may take lessons during our Contract Ice (Freestyle) sessions. Hockey players may take lessons on our Stick and Puck sessions.

How Do You Pay For Private Lessons?
Skaters will need to pay the appropriate admission fees for ice time and skate rental at the front desk of the Midwest Training and Ice Center. Skaters will also need to pay the Professional directly for their private lessons. Rates will vary by instructor.
