StephaniePetersSP Stephanie Peters
Skating Director

Stephanie has been skating for over 15 years.  She has competed in freestyle and solo ice dance competitions.  Her highest accomplishment to date was winning the gold medal in 2012 at the Solo Ice Dance National Championship.  She competed in Gold pattern dance; the highest level.  Stephanie has passed the following tests: Gold Dance, Senior Moves, Novice Freestyle, and three international ice dances.  She is currently working on the rest of her international ice dances and her Junior Freestyle.
Stephanie began student teaching when she was 13 years old.  She has over 5 years of coaching experience.  She has been skating director at Midwest since 2012.  Stephanie is currently attending Purdue Calumet and majoring in Computer Graphic Technology.  She is planning on graduating in December 2015.

TaylorAdamsSP Taylor Adams
Figure Skating and Hockey Staff

Taylor has been skating since she was 3 years old. She has competitive experience in ISI competitions across the Chicagoland area. Taylor began as a student teacher before coaching on staff here at Midwest. She coaches both Learn to Skate and Pre Hockey classes. She is also currently coaching skaters who compete at multiple ISI competitions. Taylor is a forward on the Sirens Women's Hockey team; she is #95.

YvonneAllen Yvonne Allen
Figure Skating Staff

Yvonne skated with "Holiday on Ice" for 1 year. She was the head skating instructor for 6 years at the Glenwood Ice Lodge/Park Forest South Ice Lodge. Yvonne also was the skating director at Homewood-Flossmoor Ice Arena for 30 years! She is a member of U.S. Figure Skating, ISI and is an ISI Gold Certified Judge.

Jenna Frey Jenna Frey

Jenna has been skating for over 20 years. She was a member of the Homewood Flossmoor Icettes for 8 years. Jenna skated competitively as an individual, synchronized, and pairs skater. She was a member of the Notre Dame Figure Skating Team in 2004.

Jenna is an ISI Professional Member, Gold Certified Judge, and has a USA Hockey Level 2 coaching certification. Jenna is a figure skating and hockey power skating coach. The majority of her hockey coaching experience is bantam and high school level. Jenna has been with Midwest since 2006 coaching both group classes and private lessons for both figure skating & hockey.

Jenna graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor's in Psychology. She loves being able to teach something she is so passionate about. She also has 1 kitty (and a husband) at home that she loves tons! She likes knitting, scrapbooking, and photography!

Jonni Malizia Jonni Malizia

Jonni has been skating for the past 11 years. She skated competitively as an individual through ISI and U.S. Figure Skating. Jonni reached Freestyle 7 and passed her Silver dances. She loves working with children and watching them improve and reach their goals. She teaches figure skating and beginner hockey classes. Jonni began student teaching at age 14 and has 5 years of coaching experience. In Spring 2015, Jonni plans to pursue EMT school followed by paramedic/nursing school.

Maegan has been skating for 36 years and has been coaching for the past 7 years. She previously was a member of the Radiance on Ice adult synchronized skating team. Maegan enjoys skating and teaching the sport she loves. She loves to teach the Adult Class - she thinks that the moment a skater gets a hang of the glide is the best feeling in the world. Maegan volunteers for a wildlife refuge several days a week. She loves her cats. Maegan has been married for 33 years, and has 2 children ages 32 & 21.

Carrie has been skating for over 20 years. She was a member of the Homewood-Flossmoor Icettes for 8 years. Carrie skated competitively as an individual through ISI for 13 years and with U.S. Figure Skating for 7 years. She has been a teaching assistant/coach for the past 12 years.

Shannon has been skating for the past 20 years and has been coaching for 4 years. She was a member of the Homewood Flossmoor Icettes for 3 years. Shannon has been a member of the Radiance on Ice adult synchronized skating team for the past 8 years.

Ashley Schons 2 Ashley Schons

Ashley has been skating for the past 13 years. She has been a member of the Chicago Jazz synchronized skating team for the past 10 years. She has represented Team USA at competitions in Switzerland, Italy, and France. Ashley has also competed in freestyle and solo ice dance competitions. In 2012, she won the bronze medal at the National Solo Ice Dance Championship for Pre-Silver dance. Ashley is currently working on testing her Senior Moves, Pre Gold Dance, and Novice Freestyle. She has two years of coaching experience here at Midwest.

Zachary played minor professional hockey for 4 season after players two seasons of Division 1 Hockey at RIT. He made stops in the ECHL, MAHL and AAHL during his hockey playing career. Zachary currently instructs the off-ice program for the Blackbirds youth hockey program and officiates for Midwest.

Liam played professional hockey for 9 seasons. He played for Team Illinois and the Chicago Young Americans growing up. He moved onto play in the USA Hockey Olympic Program for the Select 15’s through Select 18’s. Liam played juniors for the Omaha Lancers in the USHL then moved onto play Division 1 College Hockey for Michigan Tech for four seasons. Throughout his professional career, Liam played for teams in the IHL, CHL, ECHL, German and Swedish Elite Leagues.

Steve was born and raised in the Chicago area. He has an extensive coaching and playing résumé and provides a wealth of knowledge and experience to Midwest Training and Ice Center as our new Hockey Director. He has had a tremendous amount of success at all levels of playing and coaching. 


Steve played five seasons of Canadian Junior hockey, which was highlighted with a League Championship while playing with the Red Deer Rustlers of the Alberta Junior Hockey League. He attended training camps with both the Chicago Blackhawks and the New York Rangers. Steve played 12 seasons of minor professional hockey with teams in the East Coast Hockey League, Central Hockey League, Colonial Hockey League, and two years in the European League. He won League Championships with the Wichita Thunder and Quad City Mallards. 


Steve is also a strong supporter of player development, having coached at the minor hockey and high school levels. Steve's strengths in coaching are in teaching, skill development, player conditioning, and the technical and fundamental components of the game. He also enjoys recruiting and scouting, and with many hockey contacts at the college and professional levels, his goal is to develop players and move them on to the college and pro ranks. 


In his spare time, Steve enjoys to volunteer in the communities he resides in. For 12 years, he was the Director and Head Instructor for the Chelios Children's Foundation & Hockey Schools.


Steve is 24/7 Hockey! He is committed to his players and team, and has a passion for hockey and passing on his knowledge to younger players.
